Purpose & Support
From the International MOMS Club (R)
Bylaws:
Purpose
The
purpose of our local support group is:
-
To provide a support group for mothers who choose to
stay at home to raise their children
To provide a forum for topics pertinent to children,
child-raising, homemaking, personal improvement and
the family;
To engage in activities to enrich the lives of
children in the community; and
To undertake and complete at least one charitable,
humanitarian or social welfare project related to
children each year.
Principles
The principles of our local support group are:
-
That women must be free to choose their personal
path to fulfillment;
-
That, for women who choose it, raising children is
an important and fulfilling full-time job;
-
That a family's decision for a mother to stay at
home to raise the children often involves
considerable financial sacrifice;
-
That there is no one right way to raise children,
but that a major reason for the members to come
together is their desire to seek out mothers with a
common concern for raising their children in the
best possible and most healthful way; and
-
That children are a community's greatest resource,
and that a community's concern for its children is
marked by the quality of its schools.
Support
Our chapter is committed to supporting one another as we
take on the adventure of motherhood!
We offer playgroups, which are broken down by age group
and each group makes their own schedule.
We encourage all members to attend as many activities as
they can, which is where the most support can be given to
one another during those daytime hours!
We have an active "Sunshine Committee" which sees to
caring for our moms and kids in many ways such as:
-
"Give a Little Love"--when we have new big brothers
and sisters, we make sure they feel just as special
with a goodie bag for them; when a child is sick, we
drop off a goodie bag to help them pass the time
while they heal
-
Pregnancy Buddies--a mom volunteers to buddy up with
a pregnant mom to help watch their older child(ren)
while she has doctor appointments or any other
needs. The buddy announces the arrival of the new
miracle, and works with our Meals Mom to provide
help after the new baby comes home.
-
Meals for Moms--our volunteer coordinates meals for
moms and their families when a new baby arrives, or
other circumstances like surgery, death in the
family and such.
